“GENOMICS DAY 2026: From Legacy to Liberty”

Dr. Sophon Eiamsirithavorn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, presided over the opening ceremony of “GENOMICS DAY 2026: From Legacy to Liberty,” under the project to enhance genomics awareness in Thai society. The event was held from April 25-26, 2026, at Eden 1, CentralWorld. Also in attendance were Dr. Supakit Sirilak, Director of the Health Systems Research Institute (HSRI), Prof. Dr. Wisanu Mee-yoo, Deputy Director of the Office of National Science, Research and Innovation Policy (ONSRIP), along with executives from partner organizations and higher education institutions.

📌 The first day’s activities (April 25) included a seminar on “Genomics: Knowing the Future of Health from the Secret Code Within Us,” featuring Prof. Dr. Manop Pitakpakorn and Prof. Dr. Worasak Chotilerasak, and a discussion and storytelling session titled “GENOMICS Detective: Unraveling the Code of a Murderer.” “DNA Never Lies” by Prof. Dr. Apichai Kongpatthanayothin and Dr. Markphorn Khatiyathongkam (Dr. Tang), in a conversation & storytelling session about things you never knew: “Medical Science: The Era of Precision Medicine, Unlocking the Genetic Code of Rare Diseases” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kitiwan Rojaneunungnit and Asst. Prof. Dr. Adisorn Buranawong.

🧬 Special Segment: Sparking Ideas: “DNA as The Next Data Storage: Can It Store Civilizations Beyond Earth? When DNA is not just the code of life, but the storage of civilization’s information, can humans truly store knowledge across the globe?” by Mr. Natthanon Duangsoongnern, Mr. Chotiwat Jitprasong (Technologists), and Mr. Sarun Sihanam. Concluding with a Panel Discussion: “Genomics Uncut: Opening the Real World (of Life).” “Genomics…What can you do with it?” by Dr. Wutthichat Kamolwisit, Dr. Parit Wongkittichoti, and Dr. Nattawadee Panya-in, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, for an exchange of perspectives from academics and experts in various fields, along with an exhibition, creative activities, and a Cosplay competition.

On April 26th, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, there are more great activities that everyone is invited to participate in, including: A discussion & sharing of experiences: “Decoding the Mystery of Life (The DNA Story: From Pus to Precision)” by Ms. Kawinna Niwattakool (Fon), Blocker, from The Dark Lab – Mysterious Lab page; a discussion: “Superhuman Next Gen: When we can design genetics like choosing a character in a game” by Dr. Chatchapol Kiattikhachornthada (Dr. Aew) and Dr. Wutthichat Kamolwisit; and an exhibition on genomics knowledge. The Geno-Fusion: Decode your DNA, Design your Style cosplay contest, along with a concert by the new T-POP boy band COMPASS, will feature many prizes… See you there!
